Full Zelda Retrospective Video

GameTrailers (whos videos won’t play on our site, dammit) has been releasing their in-depth Zelda documentary in 6 parts over the last month or so. Thankfully, a kind soul has put all six parts together into one 50 minute video and posted it on Google Videos. (which we can play here!) You can also go directly to Google Video and download it for your iPod, or if you are a true archivist, you can order a DVD version from WiiNintendo.net. Enjoy!

Awesome. I’d never seen that split time line theory before, but it’s quite attractive. Just for the hell of it, though, I kind of hope Twilight Princess shoots it all to hell.

I’m disapointed that there isn’t hardly any footage of the CD-I Zelda games. I’m always hearing how bad they are, it would be nice now to actually see how bad.

My mind was kinda blown by the split time line theory. It makes sense, but I think the events that occur in the seasons games could have occurred before all of the other games, placing them, again, into a single time line with Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass at the end.

Actually, after playing it, to me, Twilight Princess brings up more questions than it answers.

People have already finished Twilight Princess 8 days after its release? Did you schedule a week’s vacation for the Wii release or what?

I’d already been kinda hoping for the split timeline theory anyway ‘cause Wind Waker’s ending was rather… apocalyptic.

But, wow, I am SUCH a geek and a retrospective like this was something I kinda do without thinking.
Allow me to demonstrate:
Link’s Awakening was the first game to use different songs (which you had to learn) for different purposes, though not to the extent Ocarina did.
Link’s Awakening can’t take place after Majora’s Mask because the box/pamphlet says he went to sea to look for more adventure after defeating Ganon (since the Hyrule creation story first showed up in LTTP literature, I think this sort of thing counts).
Now, what I’d love to do/see is a retrospective on just the music or artwork of the Zelda games and how that developed. Maybe I’m just nerdy enough to do it…

I read a different timeline that each link is a descendent and never the exact same link, but most games take place in the adult future, not hte child one, But this one intrigues me too. Damnit i wanna play and beat TP!!! Stupid broken system…
