Can We Say "Deja Vu?"

You gotta love some of the stories Engadget manages to post… even when they really don’t do anything more than make all of us geek out in fits of nerdy nostalgia.
As I said earlier, I haven’t managed to get my hot little humongous hands on a Wii yet, so I hadn’t had an opportunity to see the similarity between both the new console’s control scheme and that of SNES’s brilliance.
Now… I want to know if my Power Glove will work with the Wii when I get it.
Wii Classic Controller vs. classic SNES controller [Engadget]

I personally love the Classic Controller. Playing Super Mario 64 with it is pure beauty. I can’t wait to see how much better Starfox 64 is with it.
What’s with the cord coming from the bottom? Isn’t that part of what sunk the Dreamcast?
(And yes, I had one at launch, my birthday was only 2 days after.)
No, it’s not part of what sunk the DC, the PS2 is what sunk the DC. The reason the cord comes out of the bottom is because gravity pulls things down, so instead of a cord that comes out of the top then droops down, they have a cord that comes out of the bottom and doesn’t curve as it falls. It actually makes more sense than cords coming out of the top if you really look at the cord on your controller while you’re playing.
Plus, it’s not like it’s going across the room into the console itself, it’s going 3 feet into the Wiimote in your lap or on the couch next to you.
What I don’t get is why this thing has analog shoulder buttons when it’s not compatible with Gamecube games. (And, for that matter, how they can release a controller that manages to be compatible with every system EXCEPT the one whose controller it most resembles.)
The reason why the cord would bother me is because I don’t play my games holding the controller completely upright where the cord would bend if I did so.
I end up playing games where the cord smoothly flows out the back and into the console. Basically, with the cord coming out of the bottom it would do what you suggest it would do coming out of the top. Which makes less sense to me.
Umm, it also looks kinda like the DS button layout.
