Wii Pre-Order Experience From GayGamer Castle

Wii pre-order crowd

I was sitting in front of my vanity, applying nail polish and reminiscing about Friday’s Wii pre-order experience. I went down to the local EBGames with my friend Cass at about 7am, there was a smattering of guys standing around shooting the breeze. When we walked toward the awning, the alpha nerd of the group approached us and took our names. He had taken the responcibility to gather everyone’s name on a list of 14 slots, to make sure that each gamer had their approapriate position in line when the doors opened. It was great to watch him heard the crowd whenever anyone new showed up. He would stop them, gather their name, and warn people that the store was only getting 14 pre-order slots. Most people stayed and he marked their names accordingly.

Cass with DS

The crowd had already formed a main clique with two side cliques, and some loner DS players here and there. I asked the hipster boy in lady jeans next to me what he was playing and he quickly told me, “It’s the imported Pokemon Diamond game.”, and shoved his mop top back into his DS. Okay, strike one. Cass and I chatted about boys and who we thought were either gay or cute, or a combination of the two. There was only one possibility. The boy that kept looking over at me the whole time we were standing there. I could tell that he was trying to get me to talk to him, or something.

Wii pre-order EBGames

So I approached him with a pink DS and asked him if he’s ever played Cooking Mama. It was a good ice breaker, he played for a few rounds and I talked to him about the DS. When he was finished, I struck up a conversation with him. He seemed like he wanted to talk, but he wasn’t asking any questions, just answering the ones I asked him and staring blankly. It was pretty frustrating.

So Cass and I went back to chatting about everything and nothing and passed the time away with Cooking Mama. A half an hour later, we got into the store, grabbed out Wii pre-orders and left with a receipt in our hands and hope in our hearts.

You failed to mention that I was under strict orders to bitch the entire time about having to wake up at the ass crack of dawn on my vacation to go stand in front of EB games. But the hottienerds were totally worth it. It was cool to be part of the Wii excitement. I am still waiting on my flash animation thank you e-card from Clint.

Wow, only 14? Sounds like a slow store. I think i’m going to start making a bunch of comments from now on for this site, so maybe I should mention that I actually work at a Gamestop. I was at my store the morning of the Wii launch, and thankfully there didnt seem to be anyone who tried to take control out of our hands by making his own list of who gets to reserve their system in what particular order. _ I love the backlash from Nintendo and Sony though from us taking preorders, considering they have been saying they never gave us our total allotment of systems. Haha. They better not gyp us though because of it, because angry customers are not fun…not fun at all…

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
