UPDATE: GayGamer Video Now Available On MTV.com!

UPDATE: A lot of people outside the US complained of not being able to see the video. MTV has graciously given us a copy to host here on our site. Go here to see it!

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of creating a little video piece for MTV.com’s “Overdrive” entitled “7 Reasons Why Dead Rising Is So Gay”. If you’ve ever played the game, I’m sure you’ll know what I’m talking about. With the help of Toots taking the gameplay footage, I was able to storyboard, write and edit this little minute and a half video that I hope you will enjoy. I’ll be making more of these in the future so be sure to keep an eye out!

You can see the video here!

You can watch the whole show and see it, or if you share Tiny’s ADD tendencies, you can cut right to the chase by clicking on the little pic of Frank West in a pink striped shirt you’ll see on the right of the video screen.

If you are offended by frank depictions of gayness, do not watch this!

“If Frank has learned anything from the gays, it’s don’t be afraid to cram your ample frame into the tiniest clothes possible.” and ”...and everyone knows the gays love to shop.” LOL Fruit Brute FTW. (^_^)

I dont know why Im posting a reply.. as my replies have been deleted before.. oh wait I know.. because I got something to say.. Whats going on here is that we, as gay guys and girls, are allowed to make fun of ourselves and the cliches around ourselves.. much like african-americans can call themselves “niggers” but its not acceptable for other people to do so (agreed)... but when everyone knows the word gay no longer stands for happy or joyful but for kids to call what they find uncool and/or disgusting, when “The gays” is right up there with “The blacks” and “The arabs” – and you know that to many people watching MTV Overdrive these denominations have very offensive meanings – then you’re just adding wood to the fire… cary on Fruit.. Love your site, thought the video was very funny, but only to be digested Inhouse .. not for all 15 year old redneck potential serial killer brats to watch…

over and out, your truly
Tufas
(very much gay myself)

I am entertained.

Tufas: Riiiiight, because abstaining from using stereotypes for the sake of comedy is really going to open narrow minds. The only time I have a problem with such things is when it’s hateful but people have a right to that. I don’t like it but it’s a free country. What Frute Brute did is clearly tongue-in-cheek, to me. I think it’s reasonable to say that most rational heterosexual people would see it the same. There’s no need to keep it “in house,” not all straight people are “lolzor t3h gay” types. Publicly using gay stereotypes to poke fun is not going to affect the minds of rational thinking people. Homophobes and any other kind of haters are not rational people and anything we do or don’t do is not likely going to change their extremist beliefs. Change comes from within.

As for you lumping us into this “it’s not ok to make fun of us if you’re not gay,” that’s your take on it. I am gay and I don’t care when someone makes a joke based on a stereotype. I’m also latino and don’t care when someone makes a joke based on a stereotype. It’s comedy. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but don’t lump me in with you. You know nothing about my views nor those of any other gay man or woman…unless you’ve gotten to know them all =P

Frute Brute: Thanks again for the laugh.

Now why did I take to calling Fruit Brute, “Frute Brute” haha.

I can’t play the video because I’m Canadian. I feel marginalized.

Same here, another ol’ Canadian gets left out and can’t play the vid. ;)

Well Cardboard, in Madrid, a gay couple was stoned to blood after they kissed in public by no less than 13 teenagers and children this summer. That makes me think the future might not be as bright as it may look today. I was expressing my feelings, and I know I speak for a lot. Just not everyone has the privilege of being out, and living in a homophobic environment is not going to help anyone at all;

Whats this about not allowed to watch the video outside US? I’m in Europe and it is fine.

wont play here in ireland :(

Canuk here also, just getyourself a nice proxy in the US and you can view the video fine.

Tufas, the internet is global; everything is offensive to someone. Telling other people what they should or should not do and trying to speak for an entire group is far more offensive to me than goofing on a stereotype.

Cardboard’s got it 110% right. If all it takes is a few gay jokes for someone to think it’s a good idea to stone someone to death in the streets of Madrid, they probably have some other far more serious issues and it was only a matter of time before they snapped on someone.

Very cute piece, Fruit Brute. I wanted to pick this game up but had relegated it to the “Gamefly Q of Doom”... Until now. This is an absolute must buy for me now. The camp alone is worth the $60.

Capcom owes you a little thank you for this good PR. heh heh Or they could thank us by releasing more outfits. I still want a bloodied prom dress and heels.

Christ. What does that say about me? lol
