Surprise! There May Be A Shortage Of PS3's

Hot on the heels of all the positive PS3 news coming out of SF yesterday comes this tidbit from Bloomberg.com. Due to a shortage of Blu-ray parts, Sony may not be able to fulfill their shipment target of two million units by years’ end.
“The honest answer is it’s more of a target” for PlayStation 3 shipments, Jack Tretton, co-chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said yesterday in an interview. “Clearly we’ve had production issues.”
Poor Sony, between the PS3 fiasco and the recall of 9.6 million computer batteries their profits will fall to the lowest in many years. Here’s hoping that they can keep their heads above the water for a while longer. I sincerely hope the PS3 does well for them and that we may see a price cut on the behemothly priced console as they did in Japan.
