Hawt Midnight FF XII Action!
So the b/f (taking a break from Cooking Mama) and I went over to a local Gamestop and picked up his copy of Final Fantasy XII (the downtown mall where I pre-ordered it wasn’t doing a midnight release). It came with everything that was advertised…two discs (the game and the special features DVD) and a pretty metal case. So after buying the game, we got back to my place as fast as possible and popped it in…the game, that is.
Well, my initial impression of it is that it’s very pretty and I’m happy to see it supports 16:9 – and while I’d have been happier with a higher resolution, it’s gorgeous nonetheless. The music is great and all that good stuff, just like you would expect from a FF game. However, we both found the combat system a bit confusing. Though I’m sure we’ll catch on, especially when it’s not 1:32am!! I think it will be a great game, but the b/f says, “This game is totally boring.” Only time will tell.
We will say this: the camera can be the suXXor sometimes, mostly in tight spaces when it shoots up above you and makes you run into walls. Oh and the map? Poop, all of it. All this is just an initial impression and we’ll just wait and see how things go when we’re more alert and not so tired.
Jeebus, I’ve gotta get up for 6:30 and be at work for 8, guess it’s bedtime for me. Will have more pics up tomorrow. For now, those of you who have the game, enjoy.
PS: We encountered one helluva gamer girl who really knew her Final Fantasy! They had Advent Children playing and one of the guys in the store asked who the ‘dude in the red cape’ was. She instantly knew and said his full name and that Vincent Valentine is a Turk. I interjected with, “Was…and he’s a vampire-demon extraordinaire, LOL!” I got a dirty look after that, so I shut up. Oh yeah, Happy Halloween!
OK, those are my two cents, what are your thoughts on the game?

I was, and continue to be, more than annoyed with the battle system in this game. I’ve put about 4 hours onto the game clock trying to adjust, and I just can’t.
damn it! The store I went to told me they were selling it at midnight but guess what? They were closed…grrr…oh well, i’ll wait till after work tomorrow.
Thats a sweet box on the collectors edition. I personally love the battle system, but am not a fan of the storyline. I’m about 20 hours in, and it’s just not grabbing me :/. Some parts do, but it’s not really set up to have a central character like past games, which I’m really not a fan of.

I’m also about 20 hours into it and the story hasn’t really grabbed me at all.
I don’t know how long I can play this game when when I only like 2 characters. The princess and the manly dude.
