A Nightmare on Elm Street: The First Kills

I don’t know how this slipped by me, but apparently, they’re planning another Freddy Krueger film—a prequel, in fact. According to this tidbit from Fangoria, A Nightmare on Elm Street: The First Kills looks to be a tad darker than the original. I mean, slaughtering legions of kids in their sleep sounds positively glamorous compared to this slice-of-life drama about a school janitor who dabbles in run-of-the-mill kidnappings, molestation, and murder.
On the upside: the piece is being written by R. J. Tsarov, a playwright with great sensibilities whose best work to date might just be a piece about the very gay, very flamboyant Tennessee Williams. Although Tsarov himself prefers the company of women, perhaps the little gay voices in his head can convince him to tart up Freddy’s attire a bit—or at the very least, get rid of that Inspector Gadget fedora and the J. Crew-knockoff rugby sweater. Jeez, even psychokillers deserve to be fashionable…

OMG!!!! That’s the Freddy for the Paris Hilton generation. Nice Lee Press-on Knives. Do they come in Mauve?
