EA Thinks the Wii May Cost $170

GamesIndustry.biz reports executive VP and COO of EA’s worldwide studios, David Gardner, said that the publisher believes the Nintendo Wii will go on sale for around $170 (US) in North America.
“I’ve heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don’t know if the price has been set in Europe yet,” said Gardner.
He goes on to say that Nintendo has a very clever strategy and that most will choose the Wii as their secondary console. Though he didn’t say second to what. At that price, the killer combo would, in my mind, be a 360 and a Wii. w00t for Nintendo!

This seems highly doubtful. $200 would already seem cheap enough in comparison to the competition.
All I know is that papa wants.
I agree, Richie. $170 seems too cheap, $200 is far more likely. ...but one never knows, we’ll see! =-)
Mind you, I don’t mind throwing money at things, but I do occasionally like to follow the philosphy that the more you spend, the better the product will be. I’ve justified $600 for a PS3, but $170 seems almost too cheap. Nintendo surely cut a lot out in order to make it cost so low.
