Killer 7: Amazing

Ok, in light of the news about Heroes coming out in a few months, I decided to run over to my local game store and pick up Killer 7 for the GC at a nice price of $9.99. :-) If you haven’t tried this game out and have a taste for the unusual, you should really check it out.

So far, I’ve only played through the first mission and defeated Angel. The style is amazing, the game-play is pretty damn unique, and the soundtrack is great! It is not like any “rail shooter” I’ve ever played before.

You get to choose the paths you take and you switch into a first-person mode when you go into combat (i.e. draw your weapon). Killer 7 is the name of the group that you belong to. It is headed up by Harman Smith, a “harmless” old man in a wheel chair with one big ass gun. He has 7 different personalities, each with their own form and special abilities. It is with these 7 personalities that you play through the game.

As you kill things, Smiles, part of the Heaven Smiles terrorist group (?), you get blood, which you can then trade in for serum to upgrade your characters or execute special attacks. As you level up, the cost to level increases – but I would recommend leveling as fast and as often as you can!

I am still playing through it and will hopefully have it beaten by the end of the week. So far, I am thoroughly enjoying it and cannot wait to see where this politically charged and mature themed story takes me.

This game, like Heroes, was directed by Suda 51 and brought to us by developer, Grasshopper. View the intro movie below to get a small glimpse of the insanity that you could get into if you went out and bought this game. If you like what you see, go buy it and do it now…only $9.99 for the Gamecube and PS2 at EB/Gamestop. One more thing, I’d like to know what you think of the style of this game.

Killer 7 is truly one of the greatest and strangest game ever made..
You need to finish it to put the pieces of the story together, and curiously, it all makes sense in the end (..well, more or less).
The music is great, too : there is a great sad jazzy song in target 3-part 2 , and many weird ambient pieces.
Some parts of the game may be a little tedious, but it’s worth it, as the game gets better and better towards the end. The numerous anime parts are incredible too, and pretty lenghty (hence the two discs on GC).
My favorite character is Mask de Smith, the mexican wrestler.. especially his second costume : half naked with light-blue chaps. Woof.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
